When due to extending of treatment (major), age, severe dental phobia, special health care needs of patients, Nitrous oxide or sedation are not enough, we team up with board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists to care for your child. Our Pediatric Anesthesiologist will be monitoring the patient while Dr. Justin and Dr. Sage, our Pediatric Dentists will perform the necessary dental treatment. With sedation general anesthesia, the patient will be sleep (unconscious) during the procedure for anywhere between 30 min-1.5 hours. When they awake all dental related procedures will be complete.
We take this appointment very seriously and make sure that our patient gets all the necessary medical consults and clearance before scheduling this appointment.
How do we put a child under general anesthesia?
What are the advantages of general anesthesia?
- The child will not be traumatized The greatest advantage of putting a child to sleep while getting their dental work done is that they will not be traumatized by the extent of their dental work.
- Medication helps the child Some of the medications that are used actually help the child forget all about what happened during the treatment.
- All treatment will be done Also, once the child is completely asleep, all treatment, including X-rays, fillings, crowns, and cleanings can be done at once in a manner that is not traumatic or scary for the child.
